About Iceberg

Iceberg water is a very unique product, in a superior category all by itself. It is an all natural, truly virginal water with no traces of minerals. Its unmistakable taste is clean, light and pure.

This water’s journey started over 15,000 years ago in the ancient glaciers of western Greenland. It has been safely stored in the ice cap, protected by the ocean and the hazardous conditions of the arctic weather.

Isolation has made its source totally inaccessible to man. It is not until massive pieces of ice break off into the ocean in the form of icebergs that they can be harvested. Icebergs are melted and bottled under strict quality conditions in order to preserve the water’s natural qualities.

Production can be limited due to extended winters and the harsh conditions of the North Atlantic. Harvesting icebergs is a dangerous task. They are very unstable, shift frequently and can roll over in seconds, which make the possibility of drinking iceberg water an accomplishment in itself.

The PET bottle has been designed to look like glass but with all the conveniences of PET. It represents the ice cap, the genesis of this amazing water. Its green tint reflects the ice cold green shade often observed in icebergs. The new glass bottle maintains the distinguished berg design with a frosted finish and is now available.

Iceberg Facts

An iceberg is a large piece of freshwater ice that has broken off from a glacier or ice shelf and is floating in open water.

The word iceberg comes from the Dutch term ijsberg which means “ice mountain”.

Glaciers form on land as the result of snow accumulation over thousands of years. Icebergs are created when the edge of a glacier advances into the ocean and breaks off in pieces.

Icebergs are really white. This color is created by white light reflecting off tiny air bubbles trapped in the ice. There are also some antiseptic-blue overtones to it and a whole spectrum of green where the iceberg descends into the ocean.

History

Iceberg Established in 1985 and based in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, 2001 Investments Ltd. is a successful manufacturing company. In 2005 it formed a new division called Berg Water, a luxury brand of bottled water.

At Berg, we consider Newfoundland one of Canada’s best kept secrets. The ruggedness of the weather is compensated by a wild beauty like no other. The remoteness of the island has made Newfoundland one of the most pristine environments on earth, untouched and unspoiled.

One of the magnificent natural resources accessible to Newfoundlanders are icebergs. They have been around for thousands of years and are an intrinsic part of Newfoundland’s way of life and culture. For most Newfoundlanders icebergs are as common as snowstorms. We appreciate the captivation that these icebergs can have on those that are not lucky enough to have them on their backyard and we feel the responsibility to bring a piece of them to the rest of the world. We want to do it by offering some of the best water produced in Canada, pure iceberg water.
